The number of South Oxfordshire district councillors could be cut by 25% under proposed boundary changes.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has recommended the district be represented by 36 councillors, 12 fewer than now.

It is also proposed those councillors represent four three-member wards, seven two-member wards and ten single-member wards.

The proposed new arrangements must now be implemented by Parliament.

A draft order will be laid in the next few months.

If approved, the new arrangements would to come into force at the 2015 elections.
