We take a look back in The Bucks Herald archives to 1951.

Although rationing had ended after the war, life was still a struggle for many and gift parcels, which included tins of food and bars of soap, were very welcome.

In 1951, parcels were still being distributed – in Aylesbury alone more than 30,000 were received – as shown in this picture, taken at Queen’s Park School where 300 were given to pupils by the headmaster, Mr Jones.
