Can't your dog read? No, of course it can't but it is more likely that the owner can, so why is there a blatant disregard for the sign in Elms Park, in Thame, which states that dogs are only allowed if on a lead?
On Saturday morning my young daughters asked if they could take their bikes up to the park to try and learn to ride without stabilizers, a daunting enough task for any five year old, without having to worry about being the subject of canine attention, but within the first 15 minutes of our arrival at 10am , four dogs arrived and were released from their leads, allowing them to roam freely.
My daughters gave up their attempts to ride the bikes and requested that we "hide in the play area , as they won't come through the gates , will they?" and despite my better judgment, I resisted, at my wife's request, to make a point and speak to the offenders.
Whilst I can understand the owners desire to exercise their animals, three of whom had the extra long retractable leads, but have some regard please for the by Laws (clearly posted) of the town and the quiet enjoyment of this excellent facility by others.
So please have consideration for all users of the park, obey the laws, and keep your dog on its lead
