IAN Martin of Kingsey has been shocked by the actions of some cyclists.
I am writing to ask 'When did cyclists go mad?' Now I am not talking about people who ride bikes. Bike riding can be great fun and is good for the heart and general health. I ride myself.

In my youth I was a very keen cyclist and even cycled from High Wycombe to Lands End, although up until now I have always managed to resist the temptation to dress up in lurid colours to do so.

No, I'm talking about the bad mannered often abusive lunatics that have taken to riding flat out with no regard for The Highway Code or other road users. A couple of weeks ago I was parking in The Corn Market, Thame, when I saw some appalling behaviour . An elderly driver was having a little trouble manoeuvreing into one of the road side spaces.

Coming down the road from the War Memorial end was an eco friendly, 40 something, Lurex clad maniac obviously frantically trying to get somewhere very important - a meeting to discuss speed humps and wind farms complete with brown rice canapés no doubt.

Now instead of applying his brakes to allow the driver to reverse into the space he choose to shout abuse at the poor driver. Bad enough, but not enough. He then started pounding his fist onto the bonnet of the car.

Having scared the driver witless he pedelled off down the road, up onto the pavement and away. If he is reading this, the chap briskly walking up to him, before he cowardly cleared off, was me . I was desperate to know what the hell is wrong with him. I hope he feels ashamed but I doubt it.

The trouble with his type is that they feel morally superior so any driver is fair game. They might be touchy-feely planet savers but watch them seethe and snarl if you get in their way.
My advice to the mentallist on his bike is buy a nice little car, a yellow one if you want and chill out a bit.
