Feast Service. The annual Haddenham Feast Service, which has been taking place around the fairground carousel at Church End Green for more than 30 years, is on Sunday (starting at 7.45pm and lasting about half an hour) and will be led this year by the Rev Chris Denham. If you've never attended this service before, do go along to experience one of Haddenham's local traditions. You are advised to take a torch (and an umbrella if wet). A collection will be made for Haddenham's Thursday Club, which provides a hot lunch and various activities for elderly people.
Fair. Following its visit to Thame, a smaller version of the fair will be in operation in Haddenham on Monday late afternoon and evening. Please note that traffic movement through Church End is somewhat restricted on Sunday and Monday and that the Arriva buses normally turn round at Willis Road on those days instead of turning at Church End.
St Mary's Fellowship. Monday's meeting (2.30-4pm) at St Mary's Centre takes the form of a Scrabble and games afternoon.
Alpines. At a joint meeting of Haddenham Horticultural Society and Haddenham Village Society next Wednesday (8pm) in the Walter Rose Room at the Village Hall, naturalist Victor Scott will be showing some more of his superb flower photos in an illustrated talk on Alpines (with hints on how to grow them successfully).
CONCERT. Tickets (£7) are now available (call 291720) for a concert of light classical music being given by the Haddenham Singers, conducted by Ian Westley, with Trillium (Sheilagh Armitt - Soprano, Sue Edmonds - Flute and Mary Westley - Piano) at St Mary's Church on October 6 (7.30pm).
The choir will be singing two folk song cycles - one by John Rutter, The Sprig of Thyme and one by Elgar, based on folk songs from the Bavarian highlands - there will also be music by Purcell and Handel. The concert is part of Voices for Hospices 2007, described as 'The World's Largest Regular Singing Event', which takes place on that day, and it will raise funds for Florence Nightingale House hospice.
