A distraction burglary in Thame recently is being linked to two others in Oxfordshire.
Police have launched a manhunt for three white men who knocked on the side door of a house in Queens Close at 9pm on Friday February 12.

They told the elderly resident they had fixed a washing machine down the road and there was a leak, meaning they would have to go into her house to check the water pressure.

Once inside they rifled through some drawers before leaving through the back door. It is not yet known what items are missing.

Det Sgt Gavin Collier, who is leading the investigation, said: "There is no reason why a stranger should ever come into your home. All agencies or utility companies should make an appointment and use a password system.

"I would urge anyone with elderly or vulnerable relatives, neighbours or carers to check their home security and alert them to the dangers of opening the door to a stranger.

"Distraction burglars prey on the elderly and vulnerable. If you see people calling at houses and are suspicious of their intentions, I would urge you to contact police immediately."

The burglary is being linked to similar events in Bicester, Oxford and Kidlington all involving men that said they needed to check taps, washing machines or water pressure.
