Worried members of one of the Vale's best known golf clubs have voiced fears that their course could soon be demolished as thousands of new homes go up.
Weston Turville Golf Club is under threat as Aylesbury Vale District
Council looks to build 10,000 homes to the east of the town.

If the council's strategy is approved, a new housing estate could link Bedgrove and Weston Turville, with the course being replaced by housing and a school playing field.

No objection has been entered by the club, but directors say they will
wait and see what happens, with a long and arduous planning examination
currently underway.

Next Thursday (March 4), the golf club will hold its annual meeting,
where directors are expected to make their future plans known.

Captain Craig Furlong said: "We're very concerned, we hope the directors will maintain it as it is, as a golf course.

"It would be a massive loss if it went, you'd have 500 people that would have to find somewhere else to play."

"The directors have said they have no plans to sell the land, and we've just got to trust them, this is what they said last year."

Councillor Carole Paternoster, who is responsible for strategic
planning, said: "It's too far off to say anything definite about the golf club, if they want to keep it we need to know now.

"I know that our officers have been working for some years with a consortium of developers who will have been in touch with the landowners. The last thing we want to do is to go down the CPO (compulsory purchase order) route."
