The stormy off-the-pitch rivalry between Aylesbury United and Aylesbury FC intensified this week after a row erupted over groundsharing at Haywood Way.
Homeless Aylesbury United wants to groundshare at FC's Haywood Way ground, and last week they claimed there is a 10 year agreement between the two sides allowing them to come to the council-owned stadium in Quarrendon.

But Aylesbury FC has hit back, saying it 'will not be forced into any ground share agreement'. In a statement the club says AVDC has confirmed that no such agreement exists.

It continues: "The club has received no indication from the council that they would attempt to force their tenant Aylesbury Football Club into a ground share with any other football club.

"It is very misleading to United's supporters and the people of Aylesbury for this statement to be made in a public arena because it is completely untrue."

Aylesbury United yesterday 'expressed their disappointment' in Aylesbury FC's response.

In a statement they said: "The agreement referred to (copies of which we are in possession of and which were signed in 2006 by officials of Aylesbury United and Aylesbury Vale ) clearly demonstrated the desire of both clubs to support football in Aylesbury for the supporters of both clubs and we are simply attempting to re-capture that spirit of co-operation.

"We believe our proposal for a ground share with Aylesbury FC under the terms of the agreement signed by the two clubs in 2006 allows both clubs to pursue their own footballing ambitions while providing a home base for Aylesbury Football fans.

Next season is likely to be the first year Haywood Way will be suitable for United to play at as Aylesbury FC is paying for improvements to bring it up to the Southern League standard- and there is also a real possibilty the Ducks will be relegated to the SML anyway.
