Loyalty might be a rare quality in football, but one Aylesbury schoolboy's dedication to his club cannot be questionned.
Ryan Orlowski has just completed his tenth season as a player for Aylesbury Town Football Club- a decent achievement in itself given the mercenary nature of football nowadays- but add the fact he has not missed a single fixture for them and it is a truly remarkable milestone.
The 16 year old Manchester United supporter, who presumably is more a fan of stalwarts Giggs and Scholes than the recently departed Ronaldo and Tevez, made his debut for Aylesbury Town Under 7s on Sunday October 10 1999 in a small six a side football match against local rivals Risborough Rangers.
He marked that with his first goal for the club.
Since then, through small sided, 11 a side and football tournament appearances, the midfielder has gone on to make 454 appearances for the club, scoring on 38 occasions and not once picking up a yellow or red card.
The feat means Ryan has played every game possible at the junior level of football, which runs from Under 7s to Under 16s- he will carry on playing for the Under 18s next season.
At Aylesbury Town's annual presentation event held at the Civic Centre on Saturday, Ryan's achievement was recognised not only by the club, but also by the Berks and Bucks Football Association.
It is hoped he can be a guest of honour at a top level football match to recognise his achievement.
Town's Under 16 Manager, Keith Harper, who himself has led the players from that first Under 7s fixture through to the current day, said: "This is a remarkable achievement by Ryan. I'm not aware if the completion of ten seasons without missing a single match has ever been done before. It is a tremendous show of loyalty and I would like to thank Ryan for his unrivalled commitment over the years."
