AYLESBURY hovercraft racing star Mark Talbott performed brilliantly at last weekend's Claydon House meet, coming runner-up in the two races in his class.
The 39-year-old was making his return to the sport after a year-long absence due to personal committments- but he says he has now caught the racing bug again, and will be taking part in the next event later this month in Southampton.

Talbott made a dramatic return to the action in his first race back in his F503 category on a rainy Saturday, only narrowly being pipped to first place on the finishing line.

He then came second again to the same opponent in his final F503 race. He was unable to make Sunday's racing, as he had to travel to a wedding in Ireland.

The Weedon man said: "I'm delighted. I didn't quite win but was at the trim of first place, and I started from the back of the grid.

"The second race didn't go quite as well, third place held me back so that meant I could really get to the race leader.

"But I was very pleased at the end of the day of the day to get the second places."

The Team Topaz driver now plans to take part at July 26-27's meeting in Southampton, the fifth round of the British Inland Hovercraft Championship .

"After that we will see," he said.

"An added bonus is my craft didn't get damaged so that always helps."
