Aylesbury FC stayed top of the SML Premier after beating Oxhey Jets this afternoon (Saturday), but Aylesbury United's woes continued as they were well beaten by in-form Hitchin.
Aylesbury FC, who were without top scorer Craig Henney, still managed to beat Oxhey Jets 4-1.
Nathan Graham scored from the spot in the first half and the pro-boxer struck again after the break, scoring in between goals from Gareth Price and Ross Lafayette.
As it turned out, Mark Eaton's team needed the three points to remain top, as both Tring and Colney Heath recorded victories to keep the pressure on.
However, Aylesbury still have games in hand over their nearest rivals.
In the Southern League Division One, bottom club Aylesbury United travelled to table toppers Hitchin- and in the end, the form book told.
The Ducks lost 5-1, although the home side only pulled out of sight in the last 12 minutes of the game, scoring three quick fire goals.
Matt Ansell got United's consolation in stoppage time.
Tony Joyce's men remain seven points adrift of second-last Barton.
