Aylesbury FC 0 Broxbourne Borough 0 -
After dropping points at St Margaretsbury on Saturday, Aylesbury needed to win this home fixture to get back in the title race.
But the brave frozen souls who turned up hoping for a win, left wishing they stayed indoors watching Arsenal on the box.
The first half of the game was played in the middle of the pitch with very little chances for either side. Aylesbury lost Jonathan Barnett after 26 minutes after a bad challenge and was replaced by Kieron Schmidt.
This had little effect on the game as Gareth Price was sat on the bench and they work well together on the wings. The Aylesbury back line decided they would all get nosebleeds and play as strikers, with Ben Stevens leading the attack. But it was all-square at half time with neither side looking like they wanted to score.
The second half started a little better with Aylesbury's Gavin James having a few long-range shots at the Broxbourne goal. Then on 53 minutes Aylesbury were awarded a penalty and the crowd waited to cheer, but Obey Murefu in the Broxbourne goal saved Nathan Graham's effort.
He was clean through just 2 minutes later but again stopped by the keeper. Aylesbury were pushing for the winner, which didn't what to come and the game started to get a bit niggerly. There was a splattering of yellow cards for both sides and a straight red for Broxbourne's Jamie o'Donaghue who wanted to start a fight with Referee Anjos.
So the last 20 minutes Broxbourne were down to ten men. After two or three Broxbourne corners in a row and a Aylesbury free kick the game was fizzling out to a bore draw. Super sub Gareth Price came on for the last knockings but didn't have too much time to shine.
So Mark the tinker man Eaton it's time for a rethink as Aylesbury's title hopes are fading fast. And so it finished 0-0 at the whistle.
