An organisation that sparked violent scenes in Edinburgh last month is planning on staging a demonstration in Aylesbury in May.
Community leaders are calling for calm after it became apparent that the English Defence League had announced a date for a 'static' protest in the town.

A spokesman for the group, which was borne out of violent football gangs, said members would speak to police about the Aylesbury event after a demonstration in London tomorrow.

Superintendent Richard List, however, has said officers would be drafted in from across the Thames Valley Police force and, and that he would be watching events in the capital closely.

He said: "We have one piece of intelligence about this demonstration and that's speculative. We need to take any information of this nature seriously.

"This matter would be policed as a force-wide event for Thames Valley Police, so there would be sufficient officers.

"But first we need to confirm that this is happening."

For the full report see this week's Bucks Herald.

How do you feel about EDL's plans to come to Aylesbury.
