Plans to build an ASDA supermarket at Stoke Mandeville Hospital have been unanimously rejected by Aylesbury Vale District Council.
The supermarket giant says it will now 'review its position' in relation to a possible appeal to a Government planning inspector.

However, on Wednesday it was told it would need to almost halve the size of the proposed store for it to be in line with the council's retail strategy for the area.

Members of AVDC's development control committee added that the store would result in traffic and parking chaos and be disruptive to nearby residents.

Cllr Steven Lambert said ASDA's plans were good, "but in completely the wrong site".

For more on this story, including the plea by Stoke Mandeville Hospital for councillors to allow the store in order to finance new patient facilities, pick up a copy of The Bucks Herald, out on Wednesday.

Do you agree with the decision?
